The Lord’s leading
Have you ever been in a situation where you felt lost or confused? Maybe you’ve been questioning what you should do next or where you should go in life. If you have, then you know how frightening and unsettling it can be. But there is hope.
What it is
When the Lord leads you to something it is for a purpose. It may be for your good or the good of others. He will never lead you into something that is not for your benefit even if it doesn’t seem like it at the time.
So when you find yourself in a situation that you’re not sure of, ask yourself if the Lord has led you to it. If He has, then He will also lead you through it.
What it isn’t
When we pray and ask God to lead us, we are asking for his guidance in every area of our lives. We are asking him to direct our steps and help us make the best decisions. We are asking him to be involved in every part of our lives.
However, there are some things that the Lord will not lead us to do. There are some things that he will not guide us through because they are not part of his perfect plan for our lives.
The Lord will not lead us to do something that is against his Word. His Word is truth, and it is a lamp unto our feet (Psalm 119:105). If we are walking in darkness, we can be sure that it is not the Lord leading us.
The Lord will also not lead us to do something that goes against our conscience. Our conscience is like a compass, and it should always point us in the direction of truth (Proverbs 3:5-6). If we are doing something that goes against our conscience, we can be sure that it is not the Lord leading us.
Lastly, the Lord will not lead us to do something that would cause us to sin. Sin leads to death, and the Lord wants us to life abundant life (John 10:10). If we are about to do something that would cause us sin, we can be sure that it is not the Lord leading us.
How to know when the Lord is leading you
Discernment is how we know the will of God. It is turning to the Lord in prayer and waiting on Him to reveal His plan. We need discernment for both big and little decisions in life.
The Lord will often give us a peace about His will for our lives. When we lack peace, it is usually a sign that we are not walking in His will. However, there are other times when the path ahead is not clear and we need to seek His wisdom and direction through discernment.
There are a few things that we can do to help us grow in discernment:
1) Pray – This should be our first step in every decision we make. We need to ask the Lord to give us wisdom and guidance.
2) Study scripture – As we read the Bible, we gain knowledge of who God is and what He desires for our lives. This helps us to know His voice when He speaks to us.
3) Seek wise counsel – We should seek out godly people who can give us direction and advice. These people should be walking closely with the Lord themselves so that they can offer godly counsel.
4) Be patient – Discernment takes time. We need to be patient as we wait on the Lord to reveal His plan for our lives.
When it comes to making decisions, large or small, it is so important to know that the Lord is leading you. As believers, we have the Holy Spirit living inside of us who will guide us and give us wisdom (John 16:13). If we are yielded to Him, He will definitely lead and guide us in the way we should go (Proverbs 3:5-6).
But how do you know when the Lord is leading you? Here are some things to look for:
-When there is an unmistakable peace about a situation or decision
-When it lines up with Scripture
-When the people who know you best and love you most support your decision
-When multiple wise counsel agree
-When God gives you boldness or supernatural courage to move forward
-When it’s consistent with the fruit of the Spirit being evident in your life
If you’re praying and seeking God’s face about a situation or decision and none of these things are present, it might be best to hold off and wait for more clarity. The Lord is never confused and His will is always good, so if we wait on Him, He will definitely make His will known to us.
How to follow the Lord’s leading
Many people want to know how to follow the Lord’s leading, but there are a few things you need to know first. You need to be saved, have a surrendered life, and be willing to follow His leading. Once you have those things in place, you can follow the Lord’s leading by reading your Bible, praying, and listening to godly counsel.
If you’re wondering how to follow the Lord’s leading, the first thing you need is trust. Trust that he knows what’s best for you, even if it doesn’t make sense in the moment. Take a leap of faith and believe that he will catch you when you fall. When you put your trust in him, everything else will fall into place.
The lord will never ask you to do anything that is not possible with him. When you feel the Lord’s leading, it is important to take action and obey. The Bible tells us in Joshua 1:9 that “…Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” This is a promise from God that if we are following his leading he will be with us every step of the way.
When we obey the Lord’s leading, we can have confidence that he will see us through whatever situation we are facing. Philippians 4:13 says, “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.” This verse is a reminder that when we are following the Lord’s leading, he gives us the strength to face whatever challenges come our way.
If you are feeling the Lord leading you to do something, take action and obey. Trust that he will give you the strength and courage to see it through.
If you feel like you’re being called to do something, but you’re not sure if it’s the right thing, have faith. The Lord will never lead you astray. If He is calling you to do something, He will give you the strength and courage to do it. Trust in His timing and His plan for your life.
